Hygienic Thermometers

Hygienic thermometers are temperature measurement instruments designed to deliver high measurement performance while complying with strict regulatory expectations in sanitary and sterile processes. The hygienic portfolio is positioned for applications in food, beverage, and pharmaceutical environments and is offered in both compact and modular designs. Availability of international certificates/approvals and industry‑standard hygienic interfaces supports consistent deployment across regulated production sites.

Mechanical and process-interface design is central to hygienic suitability. Offerings include hygienic process connections such as clamp and metallic sealing systems, weld‑in adapters, Varivent, and compression fittings, along with hygienic thermowells including tee and elbow thermowells. Configurations may be built with thermowells for safe replacement/recalibration or without thermowells for direct medium contact where fastest response and highest accuracy are required.

The modular hygienic concept (e.g., iTHERM ModuLine) targets broad coverage with a manageable product set while enabling specialized “added-value” technologies. Examples include QuickSens (highlighted for very fast response times, t90 around 1.5 s) and QuickNeck (a divisible neck with quick-release design enabling tool‑free measuring insert removal for recalibration). These features directly support uptime and hygiene compliance by reducing intervention time and minimizing disturbance of sanitary boundaries.

Integration options address both traditional and modern architectures. Communication protocol selection is positioned to fit different integration needs, including 4–20 mA, HART, and IO‑Link, and configurations are available with or without transmitters and displays. The broad connection and communication coverage helps standardize temperature points across areas that mix legacy signal practice with modern digitalization goals.

Typical applications include hygienic and aseptic temperature measurement in vessels, piping, and unit operations where cleanability, drainability, and validated installation practices are required. They are commonly used on processing lines, CIP/SIP circuits, bioprocess and pharmaceutical skids, and critical control points where temperature measurement supports product quality, safety, and batch integrity.
